Why use both free weights and machines?

In this workout, Steven uses both weights and machines. 

Using both is a great way to ensure you are activating more muscles and getting your range of motion (free weights), while also targeting and slow growing, stubborn muscles (resistance machines). 

If you want to incorporate both into your training programme, we would recommend using free weights for your compound lifts and machines for more specialised, isolated movements.
