WE CAME, WE SAW. WE'RE UNCONQUERED

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA 2019

The Invictus Games embody the fighting spirit of the wounded, injured and sick Service personnel - personifying what these tenacious men and women can achieve post injury.

TO BE INVICTUS IS TO BE UNCONQUERED

"The Games have been about seeing the guys sprinting for the finish line and then turning round to clap the last man in. They have been about teammates choosing to cross the line together, not wanting to come second, but not wanting the other guys to either.
These Games have shown the very best of the human spirit."

- Prince Harry

Sydney said thank you - and farewell - to all the conquering servicemen and women of the world as the Invictus Games - Sydney 2018 came to end.

In a spectacular closing ceremony, mate ship and medals were on display at Qudos Bank Arena with all 500 competitors and their families coming together after a week of remarkable athletic and human performance.

The past 7-days have thrust the spotlight on the recovery and rehabilitation of those people who have been injured, both physically and mentally whilst serving their country.

The Duke of Sussex said that the competitors were not superheroes but in fact, were "ordinary people doing extraordinary things" who had - and will continue - to inspire others.

"This event shines a light; let's not turn off that light"
