Can you tell our Central subscribers a little bit about yourself?
I’m a 22 year old Womenswear Designer from the end of the earth (Devon), I recently moved here from Manchester to become a member of the Gymshark family.
How did you first become interested in design?
I'm a dancer and ex-gymnast, growing up with influence from an active working mum and a creative nan who’d make the clothes she’d wear. I was interested in garment construction and was taught to sew at an early age.
Design for me is very close to my heart. Now, it’s my way of carrying her legacy on.
What’s your favourite thing about working for Gymshark?
I’d say it’s the overwhelming welcoming I received from the rest of the team, people speak of a ‘family’ environment but it really is just that.
The creative energy between people is infectious and I truly believe in surrounding yourself with like-minded good people and here, I have just that.
If you’re allowed, can you give us an idea of what you’re working on at the moment?
Just creating the next best thing, so I couldn’t say too much. Innovation and authenticity is something we are striving for to lead the way in technical and design innovation, watch this space.
Do you think your own personal style is reflected in your designs?
I think my personal style is reflected in my design work, coming from an active lifestyle, luxe athleisure is an area I am confident in. I know what girls want, and I reflect that in my designs.
I wear what I like, and dress for myself. My style is definitely reflected in my work, I’d say I’m just a lot more technical as a designer. I workout a lot so for me, it’s a way of creating the clothing that I would also wear myself.
What are you most excited about when it comes to the future of Gymshark?
On a personal level, it’s seeing my designs being worn by people, and them not even knowing I designed it.
From a bigger picture perspective, it’s being on the journey as the business continues to grow, it’s such an exciting time and I’m delighted to be a part of that.
Finally, give us a fact about yourself. Something that maybe not everybody knows…
I can do the splits? Haha!
