On Saturday the 14th of October, and Sunday the 15th, Gymshark will be opening our first ever French pop-up store.
So, we thought it was time for you to meet our French athletes, and learn a little more about them, and their fitness journey.
“3 years ago, I decided to start my social media. My goal wasn’t to become famous. Fitness accounts didn’t really exist in France back then. I created a fitness account with the aim to motivate fellow gym goers. It grew quickly, and ended up becoming what it is today!
I currently grow my network through coaching and the internet, where I try and help people feel better psychologically and physically.
I am now living my passion and I am more than happy. It is what I wish for everyone, it really is wonderful!”
“Hi, my name is Stessie and I am 23 years old.
I grew up in a big family where it was difficult to find your place and identity. I left home at 16 after family issues. I didn’t do any studies, and had to start working as soon as I turned 18. I worked in a few sectors, particularly in factories.
I danced a lot for a few years, but I wasn’t a very sporty person. I don’t like cardio, but I’ve always liked athletics, particularly sprinting, high jump and hurdles.
Numerous bad experiences in life had taken their toll on me mentally, and physically, and I had become very thin. I followed the advice a friend gave me, and started doing sport at home. After a few months, I joined my first gym. I have now been going to the gym almost every day, for two and a half years. You could say it’s what saved me. In the beginning, it had a therapeutic effect on me, it made me feel better. It quickly became a real passion of mine. I have found my path, my calling. Weight training is more than just working out; it also improves you mentally.
I found myself, I picked myself up, and I am stronger for it.
Sport is love, it’s pushing yourself, it’s learning to be confident in yourself, and it’s self-growth. Sport is about feeling alive, and I am more alive, and more determined than ever before.”
“In an era of beauty YouTubers, I would film entire workouts in real time. I always played sport, but I had an epiphany when I visited Brazil- a country with a healthy, athletic and curvy body culture. The revelation? Fitness is a way of life. The gym in France has a bodybuilder stigma, however I feel I have removed that stigma. With my fit and healthy body, I feel I am starting a trend. Today, I am a public figure, with a good Social Media following. I export an image of myself, which is that of a girl with steel like mental strength, the body of an athlete; a strong, successful girl, who is stopped by nothing.”
“My name is Clementine; I am 26 years old, and I am a Certified Personal Trainer in Paris.
I have been passionate about Fitness and Bodybuilding for four years now. I learned a lot from myself - how to train and eat healthy. More known as Fit by Clem, I share my daily motivation, physique updates & joie de vivre on my Instagram account. I also share training, nutrition, and health tips on my YouTube channel. I also share what I call the "body positive" attitude - learning how to love yourself, and how to build confidence through physical activities. Good mood and motivation, guaranteed!"
"My name is Guillaume; I am 26 years old and I am French marketing manager for sports nutrition. Having started overweight, I felt it was time to find a better version of myself, I did this by finding a sport that I liked. So, I started bodybuilding in my home gym, with my father, who taught me the basics. I quickly fell in love with it.
Then, I became very interested in training, eating healthy, and improving my overall physique for more physical and sporting results. More commonly known as Grosgui_fit, I share my daily motivation, physical updates and nutrition on my Instagram account, to try and inspire as many people as possible. Bodybuilding, for me, is a "way of life", that allows me to be in general good health, whilst doing something I like!”
“I grew up watching a lot of Kung Fu movies, reading a lot of mangas, from this I always told myself “I want to be like these guys, heroes with an incredible physique, able to fight and protect those they love.
I did sports throughout my childhood, but things really started in 2004 when I went to the gym for the first time, and began combat sports, also.
More than a decade later, I still have the same internal fire, the same passion – it’s a huge part of my life. I set goals, I dream big, and I’m working hard”.
