IT'S CLAIMED THAT GYMSHARK WAS BUILT ON NANDO'S...

Okay, so the brand may not technically be built from delicious peri-peri chicken; but, it has undoubtedly fuelled both the staff and athletes over the past six years!

I remember spending many a night after an expo sat in Nando’s, munching on our ‘protein gainz’ while friendships were formed, and a family of chicken lovers was born.

So, what better recipe to share on my first ‘Cook With Lainey’ blog series for Gymshark Central than a simple, nutritious and delicious 'Nando’s Chicken Fakeaway'?

Your favourite dish can now be enjoyed at home, any day of the week…oh, and you get to save both calories and your pennies, it’s a winner!

LAINEY'S TOP TIPS:

MEAL PREP - this dish is perfect for those of you who like to meal prep; you can store it in the fridge, in an airtight container for up to 5 days! 


SERVE HOWEVER YOU FANCY - in a bun, on its own, alongside rice, sweet potato, in a salad...you name it.


SPICE LEVEL - okay, so I love my Nando's spice; medium...but, if you're all about that extra bit of spice, add some additional chilli flakes to the marinade. Or, if you prefer it slightly milder, add in less of the hot sauce and more of the sugar-free syrup.

INGREDIENTS 

FOR THE CHICKEN

  • 3/4 Medium Chicken Breasts (approx. 600g)
  • 2tbsp. Hot Sauce
  • 2tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1tbsp. Sukrin Fibre Syrup (any sugar free syrup can be used or, alternatively, honey or maple syrup!)
  • 2tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 2tsp. Onion Powder
  • 3tsp Smoked Paprika
  • Salt and Pepper 

FOR THE HIGH PROTEIN PERINAISE 

  • 200g Fat Free Greek Yoghurt
  • 1tbsp. Hot Sauce
  • Juice of Half a Lemon
  • 1tsp. Smoked Paprika

METHOD

FOR THE CHICKEN

  1. Preheat the oven to 250°C/ 480°F.
  2. Chop the chicken breasts into thirds.
  3. Add all of the remaining ingredients to a large mixing bowl, mix thoroughly and add in the chopped chicken. Coat the chicken in the mixture to marinade.
  4. Leave the chicken to marinade for 1-24hrs.
  5. Transfer the chicken to an oven-safe roasting tray and place into the preheated oven.
  6. Cook for 30-40 minutes, turning the chicken pieces at 10-minute intervals.
  7. Turn the oven off and leave the chicken to rest in the warm oven for 10 minutes before serving.

FOR THE HIGH PROTEIN PERINAISE

  1. Add all of the ingredients into a bowl and mix!
