It’s Christmas, which can only mean one thing. No, no, not that Gymshark are giving away an outfit EVERY SINGLE DAY OF BLOGMAS if you comment your Instagram and fave product in the comments below (and head over to @gymsharkTV)– it means that mince pies are back.
Supermarkets everywhere are stocked up on these Christmas staples, but which is the healthiest and more importantly which, is the tastiest?
Here at Gymshark Central, we’ve put them to the test.
It really is a hard life…
Morrisons Mince Pies
First up, it’s Morrisons Mince Pies. These come in at 256 calories per mince pie and have 9.5g of fat and 39.4g of carbs (21.9g of which are sugars) – slightly above average when compared to the other supermarket options.
In terms of taste, they’re pretty good. They’re a little crumbly (they made a bit of a mess) and not the sweetest tasting of the bunch, so if you fancy something a little sweeter, these might not be the mince pies for you.
Gymshark Central Score: 3/5
Asda Mince Pies
Regarding taste, you get what you pay for. The filling to pastry ratio is a bit of a let-down; however, what is there tastes pretty good.
We wouldn’t say no to seconds…
Gymshark Central Score: 2.5/5
Lidl Favorina Mince Pies
They also taste really good – a nice crumbly pastry and sweet filling. We would recommend chucking them in the microwave and enjoying them warm! Heaven.
Gymshark Central Score: 4/5
Bonus points because they’re also vegan!
Tesco Mince Pies
A Gymshark Central favourite when it comes to taste, Tesco mince pies come in at 212 calories per mince pie, 7.5g of fat and 14.5g of sugar (the lowest of the bunch). The perfect pastry to filling ratio – this is the store-bought mince pie of dreams.
Well done Tesco.
