Need some inspiration for a quick lower body workout that will help you gain muscle and build strength? Look no further than the kettlebell.
When you think about fitness in Australia, the first thing that probably comes to mind is a bunch of ripped, tanned people running about on a beach in slow motion.
However, it might surprise you to know that it’s actually a lot more than that.
In fact, just like Berlin, Stockholm and LA, Sydney has some pretty cool alternative fitness classes, with new, fancy studios popping up left, right and centre.
Here are some of our favourites you need to try if you find yourself in the land down under.
Flow After Dark
A silent disco but make it zen.
Yep, Flow After Dark is quite literally a zen, silent disco in which each yogi gets noise-cancelling headphones, which allows them to focus entirely on ‘getting in the zone’.
If you want to grab yourself a spot, you better be quick! This event sells out every year.
The Indigo Project
The Indigo Project is a mindfulness studio, located in Surry Hills, specifically designed to help people ‘get their sh*t together’ – their words, not ours.
They also run a class called NapTime! which is exactly what it says on the tin. Beginning with a bit of meditation, the rest of the class literally involves taking a nap.
Yep, we’re down for that.
Another fitness class that’s more about getting mindful than getting sweaty is Lunar Nights.
The intention behind Lunar Nights is to... well, set intentions… and then follow through with them.
The evening (ran once a month) is dedicated to working on creating positive energy and clearing out negative energy while meeting like-minded people (over 1000 of them in fact!) and enjoying the lunar nights of Sydney.
You can also take Lunar Nights courses that will help you learn how to get at the positive energy of the moon and use it in your own life.
Plus, there’s healthy snacks and tea on offer, so it’s a yes from us.
If you fancy something that’s going to have you breaking into a bit more of a sweat, then Retro Sweat could be the Sydney fitness class for you.
12 tracks later and believe us when we say, you’ll definitely have got a sweat on.
