Starting your journey to become the best possible you may seem like the hardest part of your fitness journey.
The truth is, it’s not.
The hardest part is sticking with it when you have temptations of going head first into 5 pints of Ben and Jerry’s, 6 cheese burgers, and taking a good month break from any activity.
I’ve been there, I’ve lived in both ends of the spectrum; Eating healthy and working out every day to turning into an ice cream eating couch potato. Which is why I want to give you the recourses you need to have a successful mindset to be proactive about when you are feeling vulnerable.
1. Stop restricting, and start living
Media and social stigma’s have it engrained in our brains that to achieve our dream body, we have to restrict the foods we love out of our diet. That could not be further from the truth! Science shows, according to body composition the main factor that causes weight to fluctuate is when your calories fluctuate as well. To keep things simple, as long as most of your diet is coming from whole and nutritious foods, a cookie won’t kill ya! Just keep your overall recommended calorie intake in mind.
2. Throw the guilt away
Okay, so you ate one more cookie and a pint of ice cream that you hadn’t planned.
Do not dwell on it. Move on, and go into your normal day to day life. Do not try to over compensate for the extra calories you consumed. It’s okay to live a little, just know that doing that every day is not ideal! Wake up, be a little more active than you were the day before, kill a workout, drink LOTS of water, and eat your micronutrients!
3. Find a workout style, or workout routine, that you LOVE and best suits your lifestyle.
This is important. If you don’t love your workouts and are not fully invested in the activity you are doing, how do you expect fitness to be a long-term part of your life? Find an activity that you are excited about- go after those endorphins! Chances are, if you are truly invested in your workout, even if you only do 30 minutes, you will work harder and burn those extra calories!
4. Remove the toxicity from your life.
Toxic food, toxic people, toxic energy, toxic surroundings; ALL of which have a direct influence on how you act, and the energy they bring to your life. It’s how human’s work. Unapologetically remove toxicity out of your life, start doing things that make you happy and positive, and more positivity will enter your life. It’s the law of attraction.
5. Do this for you, no one else.
If you are in the gym, and eating the way you do to fit someone else’s mould of perfection, you are instantly losing. This is something I live by, and will continue to live by the rest of my life. Growing up in a society where you are constantly surrounded by media telling you to look a certain way, has completely brain washed women into wanting to look like someone who is genetically different from them. This is YOUR life to live. It’s YOUR body. Be YOU!
I truly believe that if your mind is in the right place, you will have the power to live a beautiful and positive life. These 5 tips have changed my life for the better, and I am so happy to share them with you.
