Your journey and goals should be completely your own, not pressured by what you see on Instagram. The first step is to decide what it is you want to get from your fitness journey.
Create a plan of action, like stepping stones, to get you to where you want to be and find out what will work for your body and your goals through research or talking to a professional. Remember - what works for someone else may not work for you!
TRACK YOUR PROGRESS
Recording down your goals will make you feel accountable and will also make it easier to refer back to and see the progress being made.
How will you know how well you are doing if you aren’t recording your workouts?
There are many different ways to record your progress, and it is important to remember that it is not just about weight loss. Progress also includes how far you’ve managed to run and in what time or how much weight you’ve lifted for how many reps. Do whatever you feel comfortable with.
FIND SOMETHING YOU LOOK FORWARD TO DOING
Take the time to experiment with what you enjoy and will give you the motivation to keep being active.
The gym environment isn’t for everyone despite what you see on social media, and there are hundreds of other activities you can try. Sign up for some fitness classes, go swimming, take your bike out for a swim or walk more.
